JOB OPENING: Network Virtualization Lead – The Woodlands, TX 77380         07/03/2017

Requirement:

Master's or Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Computer Networking, Information Technology or Electronics Engineering along with minimum 6 years of work experience in networking field.

Job Description:

  • Leads the activities such as new system build, technology upgrade, Service Improvement activities within the company, Virtualization and Modernization Infrastructure in line with organizational expectations.
  • Maintain and operate NA Data Center network for Hosting (VMWare, Blade, P500, etc.), Storage (Fibre Channel, ISCSI, NAS, etc.) and Network Services (NTP, Cache, Load Balancing / High Availability, Security – IPS/IDS, Vwalls, etc.). Determine network requirements (i.e. design, configure, install, etc.) with network users.
  • Provide Level 3 break fix support for LAN/WAN, including locally and globally hosted co-location data centers operation support.
  • Participates in large-scale development initiatives including product selection and POC (Proof of Concept) and provide technical recommendations for design and implementation for best utilization and high availability of resources.
  • Leads the activities such as new system build, technology upgrade, Service Improvement activities within the company, Virtualization and Modernization Infrastructure in line with organizational expectations.
  • Supervises, Develop and perform planning, designing and implementation standard and non-standard solutions for production problems.
  • Interacts and collaborates with the technical team and cross-functional groups as a focal point of contact for company and Data Center Virtualization and Modernization Team.
  • Leads, reviews, and participates in the flow of day-to-day operation activities for company Network team.
  • Supervises, plans and coordinates with higher management & Virtualization and modernization vendors to ensure service delivery deadlines are met and to ensure effective and smooth operation of this environment.
  • Develop and support SDN (Software Defined Network) and NFV (Network Function Virtualization).
  • Manages and ensures the documentation for policies, procedure and standards, is up to date and consistent.
  • Develop strategies to accommodate network growth, security, and enhancements by maximizing functionality of network equipment (i.e. Cisco routers, gateways, switches, etc.).
  • Technical Analysis - Analyze data traffic patterns within network infrastructure, detecting operational problems and recommending improvements to ensure optimal performance
  • Proactively identify symptoms and instabilities in a timely and accurate manner to include performing analysis, capacity planning, and testing for organizations network environment. This includes monitoring trends in documented incidents and determine appropriate actions necessary to eliminate future occurrences and improve customer service levels in an appropriate timeframe
  • Make recommendations to management on enhancements to network that will improve the quality and reliability of the network’s performance.
  • Provide network support by configuring Cisco/Juniper/Meraki routers, switches, Load Balancers, etc.

DESCRIPTION: Provide post-sales on-site support of Juniper and Cisco network products utilizing the Advanced Services Contract to develop and maintain expertise on the products deployed within customers’ networks. Provide planning, designing, implementation and architecture consulting support for all strategic initiatives across the enterprise with focus on network design and infrastructure as a service. Support routing protocol operation (OSPF and BGP), routing policies at BGP peering points, VPNs and the associated tunneling technologies (L2TP, MPLS, etc.), switching, Spanning Tree, VXLAN-EVPN and other switching technology. Maintain developed network systems by escalating any issues pertaining to networking: installation, configuration and administration of LANs, WAN, Cisco Nexus 5000/7000/9000, Cache Farm, CDN, MX960s, MX480s, MX240s, EX3300s, 4200s, 4300s, and 9200s. SRX240s in packet mode, MX104s, PTX1k, Juniper MX480 Fusion system. Provide Juniper SRX Service Gateways, Cisco ISE Solution, ISR Secure Routers, VPNs solutions for enterprise networks including SSLVPN, Easy VPN, IPSEC, GRE Tunnels, MPLS technologies and applications (MPLS, VPLS, Multicast VPNs).  Provide technical support for enterprise customers to solve different network and security problems in their networks. Review incident management, change management and problem management for purposes of resolution and RCA (Root Cause Analysis) of complex problems.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Computer Networking, Information Technology or Electronics Engineering. 3 years experience as Network Architect, Network Engineer or any suitable combination of experience/education/training. 

Must have CCIE Certification.

HOURS: 9 AM to 5 PM, 40 hours/week

  • Detailed technical experience in the installation and operation of IP Routers Switches and Firewalls. This includes hands-on operation of management tools and network analyzers.
  • Detailed understanding of the protocols surrounding IP networks. These skills should generally include: a. TCP/IP fundamentals, b. IP subnetting and supernetting and hierarchical routing principles, c. Routing protocol operation (OSPF and BGP), d. Routing policies at BGP peering points, e. VPNs and the associated tunneling technologies (L2TP, MPLS, etc.) f. Switching, spanning tree, VXLAN-EVPN and other switching technology as required, Firewalls and associated technologies as required  
  • Large transport network utilizing OSPF/BGP/MPLS/RSVP/LDP.  Physical network covers most of the geography of southern California.  They have approximately 300 L3 hop locations connected via a combination of Ethernet over Fiber, some copper, some microwave and a relatively small amount of traditional TDM.  The network is 98% Juniper, consisting of M320s (2), MX960s, MX480s, MX240s, SRX240s in packet mode, MX104s, ACXs, LN2600s.  There is a smattering of CTP utilized to provide Circuit Emulation over the IP network.
  • MPLS with both LDP and (transitioning to) RSVP is utilized everywhere.  Both L2 and L3 tunneling are employed.  VRFs are used at endpoints to segment traffic for transport across the converged network.  QOS is heavily employed to protect critical services during unexpected network load events.
  • OSPF is the IGP used (although attempts are being made to move to ISIS but route leaking in the network is slowing that effort), and BGP is utilized to provide the MPLS signaling services (VPLS, etc) as well as for standard external route advertisement with peers.

The Senior Network Engineer must possess strong skills in the network installation, integration, operation, and administration of various hardware devices including Cisco routers, switches, and network-interconnection devices.

The Senior Network Engineer should have implementation and operational experience in secure WAN and campus LAN solutions. The candidate must possess solid communication, troubleshooting and interpersonal skills.

 

Required Experience

7+ years' experience as a Network Engineer

5+ years' experience working with Cisco enterprise class switches and routers including (Nexus and Catalyst).

3+ years' experience with security best practices and implementing firewalls and perimeter security measures including VPN technologies.
